The Further Adventures of a Dog and His Boy

An update to the Max/Jack dynamic…

Jack has become increasingly fascinated by Max. When Max enters the room, Jack turns his head and smiles. If Max comes near, he leans forward and reaches out, wanting to touch whatever he can reach.

In turn, Max is still maintains a cautious distance. Mostly.

Mostly.

Max will approach and sniff on occasion. He’ll even allow himself to be pet by Jack if for nor other reason than it allows Margaret or myself to also pet him. Every now and then Max will lick Jack’s face.

But Max is still going through the warming-up process.

That is, until dinnertime arrives.

Max…here to help!

We have been introducing foods to Jack now–mostly peas mixed with either rice or oatmeal cereals. Jack seems to enjoy them when mixed. He’s not a fan of the peas by themselves. Max, however… Max has yet to meet a food he didn’t like.

Suddenly, at dinnertime, Max is Jack’s best friend. Max especially appreciates how so much of Jack’s food doesn’t enter his mouth, but smears on his face, his bib, his sleeves, the highchair, and behind the the bookcase in the basement where he has never been somehow.

It’s a process.

So Max, ever the steady buddy of Jack, remains on-hand throughout the entire feeding to help keep things neat and tidy. No food goes to waste.

Thank you, Max. We appreciate the help.

Now… new food means new diaper “gifts”. You want to help out with those as well?

Max?

Max?…

Where is that dog?

Cheers!
