Through the Night?

Technically it’s still Thursday. Well, Thursday as I type this at 11:55 PM. It will be after midnight when it gets posted. My bad. Best laid plans and all that.

As things happen, things change. Not a bad thing by any means.

As Jackrabbit hits three months old (wow, time flies! I think.) his sleep shcedule is developing more or less along expected lines. Notably…

He has been getting closer and closer to sleeping through the night. For us, that means that if he’s put down at 11:30 or midnight, he’s more or less sleeping through until 6 or 6:30 AM.

What does this mean for us?

Well, it means we might be able to start sleeping as a family–dog included. We’ve not done that since around a month before the kid was born. It means laying him down in the pack ‘n play in the bedroom upstairs, and soon the crib once it’s set up in the next room over. It means that I won’t be getting up at 3 in the morning to warm a bottle and get down to business.

Soon, instead, it will be getting up at a more reasonable hour, carrying the child downstairs for a changing and possibly a bottle. Or maybe Jack can wait until his mother is up and feed naturally. It also means all of us going to bed at the same time.

Madness.

My work schedule has changed anyway, and it seems to be working. Getting in synch with everyone else will be good for everyone.

Looking forward to it. I expect we’ll be normalizing everyone’s sleep (as normal as it can get, anyway) within a week.

Stay tuned.

Cheers!
